One thing to note in Mark 6 on the structure is the rapid succession of scene shifts. Each paragraph sees a change in location.
Nazareth where Jesus is rejected
neighboring villages where the disciples are commissioned
Herod's palace for the historical record of John the Baptist's death
a remote place which sets the stage for a miraculous feeding
a boat in the middle of the sea
Gennesaret and other surrounding villages
The scenes covered Jewish and Gentile territory, cities and rural areas, land and sea, palaces and open air venues. The scope of locations demonstrates the breadth of Jesus' ministry.
Scene shifts or changes in people involved provide key information when examining how a text fits together. In Mark 6 it helps communicate the reach of Jesus.
Let's keep reading the Bible together.
