STUDYING THE WORD TOGETHER

A 2025 READING PLAN

Why read the same passage every day for a week?

Have you ever reread a book or rewatched a movie? Did you pick up on details you missed previously? By reading the same passage over again we are able to experience the text in different circumstances. If you read about nothing being able to separate us from the love of God (Rms 8:38-39) on a happy day where everything is going your way, it will hit different than if you are having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

Additionally, even if we would like to sit down and study the passage for hours, we don’t usually have enough time. If we divide our study up over several days, we can look deeper and with fresher eyes at different aspects of a chapter.

Each week, we will read one chapter. We will read the same chapter every day that week and focus on a little bit different aspect of the text. The week will look like this:

Sunday – read the chapter twice

Monday – read the chapter once and look at key words

Tuesday - read the chapter once and look at the structure

Wednesday - read the chapter once and look at cross references

Thursday - read the chapter once and look at how the chapter reveals Who God is and what God does

Friday – read the chapter once and look at what the people got right and what they got wrong

Saturday – read the chapter once and ask, “what do these verses demand of me?”

If you break it down, it is not too much, while at the same time being more than we can ever handle. Join us starting December 29.
